World Mental Health Day

🌍💛Happy World Mental Health Day! 💛🌍

Today, our Sowing Seeds family come together to raise awareness about mental health and its importance, especially for our young people. Did you know that in the UK, approximately 1 in 6 young people aged 16-24 experience a mental health issue? This statistic highlights the urgent need for open conversations and support surrounding mental health at home, at school, and in the workplace.

✨ Here are some more eye-opening facts:

– Around 50% of mental health problems are established by age 14, and 75% by age 24.

– An estimated 1 in 5 children and young people aged 5-16 have a mental disorder.

These numbers are a call to action for all of us and why we are passionate and determined to prioritise children’s mental health before education as we know this is key to building the self-value, self-esteem and self-worth. It’s vital that we prioritise and value our mental well-being too and encourage others to do the same. Here are a few simple ways to take care of your mental health:

1. Talk it Out or Open up to a friend, family member, or professional: Sharing your feelings can lighten the load.

2. Be Active: Engage in physical activities, whether it’s a walk, dance, or yoga. Movement can significantly boost your mood!

3. Take Breaks and allow time to rest! Allow yourself to take breaks from work, school, or social media. A little downtime can do wonders for your mental clarity.

4. Practise Mindfulness: Techniques like meditation, deep breathing, or journaling can help centre your thoughts and reduce anxiety.

5. Connect: Spend quality time with loved ones and foster relationships that uplift you and make you feel healthy and happy.

Remember, it’s okay not to be okay, and seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Let’s continue to support each other and break the stigma surrounding mental health. 💪💙
