Our learners may have autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, anxiety, EBSA, SEMH, trauma, sensory differences or other barriers to accessing education. You will deliver personalised Computer Science tuition that reflects each learner’s starting point, individual needs and agreed outcomes.

The role may include teaching GCSE Computer Science, as well as supporting learners working across primary, secondary or GCSE-level content. You will help learners rebuild their confidence, develop practical computing skills and make meaningful progress without creating unnecessary pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging one-to-one and small-group Computer Science tuition
  • Plan learning based on each learner’s starting point, needs and agreed outcomes
  • Teach relevant primary, secondary, GCSE and Functional Skills content
  • Adapt teaching for learners with SEND, anxiety and barriers to education
  • Use practical, creative and accessible approaches to develop computing understanding
  • Support learners to improve their confidence, independence and problem-solving skills
  • Complete baseline assessments and identify gaps in knowledge
  • Monitor progress and adjust teaching strategies appropriately
  • Prepare learners for examinations or assessments where required
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, engagement, learning and progress
  • Provide appropriate feedback to learners, families and professionals
  • Contribute to personal learning plans, reviews and quality-assurance processes
  • Work collaboratively with learning mentors, tutors and the wider education team
  • Follow examination and awarding-body requirements where applicable
  • Report safeguarding or welfare concerns immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead

Requirements

  • Experience teaching or tutoring Computer Science to children or young people
  • Strong subject knowledge across the relevant Computer Science curriculum
  • A recognised teaching or tutoring qualification, or relevant professional experience
  • A minimum of Level 2 Maths or an equivalent qualification
  • Experience supporting learners with SEND or barriers to education
  • Understanding of autism, ADHD, dyscalculia, anxiety, EBSA and inclusive teaching practices
  • Ability to assess starting points and plan personalised learning
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • A calm, patient and flexible approach
  • Ability to motivate learners who may have experienced difficulties in education
  • Strong organisation, planning and record-keeping skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries
  • Experience delivering GCSE Computer Science is desirable
  • Willingness to travel across West Yorkshire where required
